Windsor Police collar sixth suspect in Crown Royal theft

A sixth suspect has been arrested after last month's $500,000 Crown Royal caper and more arrests are expected.

Just before 9 p.m. on May 17, several suspects stole a semi-trailer loaded with more than 1,000 boxes of Crown Royal whiskey from a fenced-in yard on Devon Drive. The trailer turned up the next day, empty. The whiskey remains missing.

Five suspects, four men and a woman, were arrested on June 5 at locations throughout Windsor and Essex County.

Last Friday, Windsor Police picked up a 54-year-old man on Lassaline Avenue, and charged him with possession of stolen property for the purpose of trafficking and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

Anyone with information about the theft can call the Windsor Police Target Base Unit at 519-255-6700 ext.4350, Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477, or visit www.catchcrooks.com.
