Theft investigation leads to trafficking charges

What started as an investigation into a theft led to charges related to drug trafficking.

Earlier this month, Windsor police say they began an investigation into the theft of a watch. The suspect was trying to sell the item on an online marketplace. Officers arranged a meeting with the suspect.

Investigators met him on Tuesday on Huron Church Road, where he was taken into custody.

During the arrest, police recovered 67.5 grams of methamphetamine, 4.4 grams of cocaine, a pocket-sized conducted energy weapon (commonly known as a taser), $1,790 in cash, and the stolen watch.

The 41-year-old is facing charges of possession with the purpose of trafficking, unlawful possession of a scheduled substance, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of property obtained by crime, trafficking in property obtained by crime, and failure to comply with a release order.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Target Base Unit at 519-255-6700, ext. 4350.
