Essex County OPP kept busy with impaired drivers

The Essex County Ontario Provincial Police laid several impaired driving charges over the last week.

On June 27, officers stopped a car on Tecumseh Road East in Tecumseh. The 21-year-old driver from LaSalle was charged with operating while impaired, dangerous driving, failing to stop at a red light, and being a novice driver with a blood alcohol level above zero.

Later that afternoon, officers were called to a traffic complaint on Manning Road near Highway 3 in Lakeshore. A 70-year-old driver was stopped and charged with impaired operation of a vehicle, driving while under suspension, and driving without insurance.

On June 28, a 21-year-old driver was charged with operating while impaired after a single-vehicle crash on County Road 14 in Leamington.

Officers responded to another crash in Leamington on Erie Street at Russell Street on Canada Day. The 60-year-old driver from Leamington was charged with operating while impaired.

On July 2, a 27-year-old driver from Chatham was stopped on Highway 3 in Leamington. They were charged with impaired operation, dangerous operation, and resisting a police officer.

The OPP encourages anyone who suspects an impaired driver to contact 9-1-1 immediately.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
