LaSalle man stable after Canada Day stabbing

LaSalle police say a man is hospitalized following a stabbing on Canada Day.

Officers were called at around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday to a home on Canada Street, responding to a report about a knife-based assault. When they arrived, they found a man outside the house with stab wounds.

The 83-year-old man was taken to hospital and is in stable condition.

Investigators learned that the victim and the suspect, a 40-year-old woman, were in an intimate partner relationship. She has been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.

Police will not release any further details concerning the victim's identity.

This is the second stabbing incident in LaSalle within 48 hours, after a 31-year-old man was attacked early Monday. Police have emphasized that the two incidents are not connected.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
