Sexual assault suspect arrested in Windsor

Windsor police say a man wanted in the U.S. on historic sexual abuse charges has been arrested for breaching bail.

The suspect, identified as 74-year-old Rodney Douglas Kimbrough, is wanted by the FBI for a decades-old case involving the alleged sexual assault of a minor.

Windsor police say he is wanted on four counts of rape, six counts of gross sexual imposition, one count of failure to appear, and one count of flight to avoid prosecution.

Kimbrough was arrested in Windsor on September 11, 2024, on an arrest warrant issued by Toronto police. He was released on bail pending extradition to the U.S. under strict conditions. He was also required to be accompanied by a surety.

Bail compliance officers later learned that the suspect repeatedly violated conditions. He was arrested again on Wednesday at a home on Martindale Street near McEwan Avenue.

Additional charges included three counts of failure to comply with a release order. He is in custody pending another bail hearing.

His surety, a 58-year-old woman, has also been charged with three counts of facilitating a breach of release order.

The charges have not been proven in court.
