Two youths charged with TikTok prank in LaSalle

Two teens have been arrested after LaSalle police say they participated in a troubling social media trend.

A resident on St. Clair Avenue near Cabana Road West called police soon after 11 p.m. on Canada Day to report that their front door had been kicked in.

Police soon located a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old nearby and arrested them for mischief.

It was soon determined that the incident stemmed from a social media challenge spreading on TikTok, where young people kick in the front doors of homes and then flee the area.

The suspects can't be identified under the Ontario Youth Criminal Justice Act.
