Arrest made in joint OPP-Windsor police cocaine investigation

A 37-year-old Windsor resident has been charged as a result of a drug probe stretching back over a year.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau began looking into a cocaine operation in April 2024. This was done in conjunction with OPP members assigned to the Border Enforcement Security Task Force (BEST) in Windsor, Windsor police, and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

OPP members conducted a traffic stop in Essex County on Tuesday, June 24. A search of the vehicle uncovered five kilograms of suspected cocaine, three cell phones, and $460 in Canadian cash.

The driver has been charged with cocaine possession with intent to sell.

The charge has not been proven in court. The suspect remains in custody and will have a chance to respond in a Windsor court on August 18.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information should call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
