Windsor retirement home residents come through for wildfire victims

A Windsor retirement home is collecting funds for wildfire victims across the country.

Cardinal Place Retirement Residence is holding its Christmas in July Open House on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. It's located at 3140 Peter Street.

Along with supporting the cause, the afternoon will provide guided tours, seasonal treats, and live entertainment.

The Senior Emergency Management Coordinator with the Canadian Red Cross expressed heartfelt appreciation for the outpouring of support.

"We've seen incredible generosity from local volunteers here in Windsor," said Donna Girard. "They've stepped up to help families affected by wildfires across Canada. Their compassion and commitment reflect the very best of this community."

Cardinal Place has been open since 2014.
