Early morning shooting in Windsor under police investigation

An early morning shooting in Windsor is being investigated by police.

According to the Windsor Police Service, a shooting occurred just before 3 a.m. on Sunday, July 20 in the 400 block of Ouellette Avenue.

Officers responded to the area after getting reports of gunshots, and located a 22-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police determined the victim was shot following an altercation between two groups.

The Windsor Police Major Crimes Unit is investigating and urges residents and business owners in the immediate area to check their surveillance or dashcam footage between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. for possible evidence.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
