Driver charged after collision with LaSalle storefront

A LaSalle man faces impaired driving charges after crashing a pickup truck through a local storefront over the weekend.

Officers responded to a business on Malden Road near Wyoming Avenue at around noon on Saturday. When they arrived, they found that a pickup truck had been driven through the front window of the store.

Upon speaking with the driver, officers saw alleged signs of impairment. He was taken to the police station, where breath tests determined that his blood-alcohol concentration was over twice the legal limit.

The 59-year-old is charged with impaired driving. His licence was suspended on the spot for 90 days, and the truck has been impounded for seven days.

The charge has not been proven in court.
