Driver cited after vehicle ends up in Detroit River at marina

Windsor police say a driver has been ticketed after accidentally driving his vehicle into the water at Lakeview Marina.

Police confirmed to WindsorNewsToday.ca that the incident happened at around 9:30 p.m. on Monday. A man was attempting to park his vehicle when he inadvertently hit the accelerator instead of the brake and drove into the Detroit River.

The driver was able to escape and swim back to safety before the vehicle was ubmerged.

A towing company eventually removed the vehicle from the water late Monday night.

The driver was cited for careless driving.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
