SIU probing Lakeshore collision

Essex County OPP say the province's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate following a single-vehicle collision in the Municipality of Lakeshore.

The incident occurred Monday, July 21, around 11 p.m.

The OPP said its officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a vehicle. The vehicle allegedly failed to stop and was later involved in a collision on Lakeshore Road 235.

The driver was transported to local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Because the injuries occurred during a police involved incident, the SIU has invoked its mandate.

The OPP says it will not be able to provide any further information, but the investigation regarding the initial traffic stop remains ongoing.
