Health unit closes one beach, posts warnings at three others

If you were hoping to get to the beach this weekend to stick your feet in the sand and take a swim, there are three public beaches open.

According to the Windsor Essex County Health Unit, it's safe to swim at Cedar Beach, Lakeshore Lakeview Park West Beach, and Point Pelee North West Beach.

The health unit tests water samples from each beach every week for high levels of e.coli bacteria.

It shut down Colchester Beach this week because bacteria levels were above 1,000 parts per million.

Warnings are posted at three other beaches.

At Seacliff Beach in Leamington, there were 618 ppm of e.coli bacteria, 462 ppm at Holiday Beach in Amherstburg, and 282 ppm at Cedar Island Beach in Kingsville.
