Dry conditions prompt an open air burning ban in LaSalle

Thinking of lighting up the backyard fire pit while the warm summer evenings last? Not in LaSalle.

The town's fire service has implemented an open air fire ban because of dry conditions in the region.

"Community safety is our main concern," said Fire Chief Ed Thiessen.

The ban includes campfires, chimineas, outdoor fireplaces, fire pits, brush fires and agricultural burning.

Those caught with an open fire could be fined.
