Swimming is only safe at one beach this weekend

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has closed one beach and posted warnings against swimming at five others.

Swimming is only safe at one public beach in the region this weekend, and that's Point Pelee North West Beach.

After testing water samples from Holiday Beach in Amherstburg, the health unit has closed the beach. The e.coli count in the sample was over 1,000 ppb.

The health unit isn't recommending swimming at Cedar Beach, Cedar Island Beach, Colchester Beach, Lakeshore Lakeview West Beach, or Seacliff Beach.

Sandpoint Beach in Windsor remains closed after the drowning death of a teenaged boy this past May.
