Goodwill starts collecting coats for the winter

It definitely feels too warm outside to think about winter coats, but Goodwill Industries hopes you'll check your closets for any gently used coats you don't wear.

Each year, Goodwill's ClothingWorks program starts collecting winter coats and cold-weather accessories for those in need in August. Those donated items will be distributed at free giveaway events in October when the temperature cools down.

Donors can drop off new and gently used winter coats, hats, mittens, gloves, and sweaters at their closest Goodwill Donation Centre. There are two in Windsor, on McDougall Avenue and Tecumseh Road East near Banwell Avenue.

Donations will be accepted until October 3.

Last year, ClothingWorks by Goodwill collected and distributed more than 3,300 winter coats and accessories.
