Quick thinking leads to arrest of Windsor robbery suspects

Two people are facing charges following an armed robbery over the weekend.

Windsor police were called at around 10:20 a.m. on Saturday to the area of Wyandotte Street East near Hall Avenue.

They learned that the victim was repeatedly punched, and threatened with a machete and a taser. The suspects stripped the victim of their belongings and left in a taxi just before officers arrived.

Police caught up with the taxi within five minutes of the initial call and arrested the suspects without incident.

The victim was treated for minor injuries.

A 45-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman are each charged with robbery and possession of a dangerous weapon. The male suspect is also charged with two counts of breaching a release order.

The charges have not been proven in court.
