Update: Arrest made in suspicious fire that injured four

The Windsor Police Service Arson Unit is looking into a fire in the west end of the city on Monday.

Firefighters responded to an active fire at a home on Bloomfield Road between Watkins Street and Prince Road around 8:30 a.m.

Four people were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Among them, a 35-year-old man was arrested at the scene and remains in medical care under police custody. Another victim was airlifted to a Hamilton hospital. Firefighters also rescued an occupant who was trapped inside.

The suspect is charged with three counts of attempted murder, arson with disregard for human life, break-and-enter, forcible confinement, and possession of incendiary material for arson.

Bloomfield Road has reopened, but the investigation is ongoing.
