OPP blame impaired driving for three crashes on Tuesday

Three drivers face impaired driving charges following three separate crashes in Essex County in one day.

Officers were called to the first crash around 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday after a vehicle crashed into a ditch on 12th Concession Road in Essex.

While talking to the driver, officers observed signs that the woman was impaired and arrested her.

A 36-year-old woman from Middlesex County faces two impaired driving charges: operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs or alcohol and operation of a motor vehicle while over the legal blood alcohol concentration.

About five hours later, officers were called to a two-vehicle collision on I.C. Roy Drive at Oakwood Avenue in Lakeshore.

No one was hurt, but again, officers determined one driver was impaired and a 28-year-old Windsor woman was arrested.

The third crash was just before 10 p.m. on Tuesday on North Talbot Road in Lakeshore.

A single vehicle crashed, and the driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

For the third time that day, officers realized the driver was impaired, and like the other two drivers earlier in the day, he was arrested.

A 30-year-old Essex man was charged.

Essex County OPP remind drivers no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when driving, and the public that they can call the OPP to report a suspected drunk driver by calling 1-888-310-1122 or *OPP on your mobile phone.
