Charge upgraded for pickup driver in fatal Windsor crash

Windsor police have upgraded charges against a man after a fatal collision two weeks ago.

It happened on the night of September 6, near the intersection of Tecumseh Road East and McDougall Street. First responders found a pick-up truck and an SUV engulfed in flames.

Investigators said the pick-up was travelling westbound on Tecumseh Road East when it struck a sedan, before veering into eastbound traffic and colliding with the SUV.

The five occupants in the SUV were taken to hospital, with the driver in life-threatening condition and the passengers having serious injuries. The driver, a 41-year-old man, succumbed to his injuries a week after the crash.

The driver of the pickup truck involved in the crash, a 34-year-old man, was originally charged with dangerous driving.
