UPDATE: Windsor police arrest armed robbery suspect

Windsor police say a person suspected of robbing a downtown business last week has been identified.

Officers responded to a security alarm at around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday at a business on Wyandotte Street West and Dougall Avenue. Police were then told that a suspect entered with a firearm and a rock, confronted an employee, and demanded money.

The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and ran west on Wyandotte West, then south on Church Street. No one was hurt.

Shortly before 8 p.m. on Monday, Windsor police spotted the 33-year-old suspect in the area of Bruce Avenue and Vera Street. He was arrested after a short foot chase.

The suspect is charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, two counts of wearing a disguise to commit an offence, and one count apiece of pointing a firearm, and using a firearm while committing an offence.

The charges have not been proven in court.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
