New charge laid in March pedestrian death

Windsor police say an additional charge has been laid on a 28-year-old woman in connection with a crash this spring that killed a pedestrian.

At around 7 p.m. on March 8, officers responded to a collision on Tecumseh Road East at Pillette Road. A rental moving van had been driven onto a sidewalk, striking a pedestrian and crashing into a business.

Police searched the moving van and found a loaded weapon.

The pedestrian, a 27-year-old woman, died at the scene.

The driver of the van initially faced multiple charges related to having the weapon in the vehicle.

On Friday, police announced that a charge of dangerous operation causing death was added.

The charges have not been proven in court.
