Police investigating after fatal crash

One pedestrian is dead following a collision in the west end of Windsor.

On Saturday evening, Windsor police responded to a crash involving two vehicles and a pedestrian on Sandwich Street.

During a preliminary investigation, officers determined that a man was crossing the street mid-block when he was hit by an oncoming vehicle. The impact caused him to be thrown into the opposite lane, where he was struck by a second car.

The 62-year-old man was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, but was later declared dead.

Police closed the street between Mill Street and Detroit Street for several hours while the Traffic and Reconstruction Unit conducted their investigation. The street has since been reopened.

Windsor Police are continuing their investigation and are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, has relevant information, or has video footage of the incident to contact them.
