At long last, Windsor's organic waste collection starts this week

Windsor's long-awaited organic waste program gets underway this week as collection begins for the new green bins.

Residents in Windsor, Essex, Lakeshore, LaSalle, and Tecumseh received their green bins earlier this fall.

Residents are enoucraged to download the Recycle Coach App, check their municipal calendar, or go to the Essex Windsor Solid Waste website to find out what day organic waste in their neighbourhoods will be picked up.

The authority has some tips to ensure your green bin will be collected, including parking it about 30 cm behind the curb facing outward towards the street, and leave it at least a metre fro other carts.

Collectors and the authority's Green Team will randomly audit green bins.

The shift also marks the start of biweekly garbage pickup in Windsor.
