One displaced in west Windsor weekend fire

One person is looking for a place to stay after a fire in west Windsor over the weekend.

Windsor Fire and Rescue crews were called shortly after 9 p.m. on Saturday to a home on Bloomfield Road near Chippawa Street. When firefighters arrived, they noticed smoke pouring from the first floor of a two-story row house.

About 30 firefighters worked to extinguish the fire within half an hour of the call. Essex-Windsor EMS and Windsor police assisted at the scene.

No injuries were reported, but two pets were rescued, and one person was displaced.

Windsor police had an arson investigator at the scene on Sunday. A cause has not been determined, but damage is estimated at $80,000.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
