Woman seriously injured after early morning assault

Windsor police have arrested a man following a violent assault in the city's Glengarry area.

Officers appeared at an apartment on Glengarry Avenue near Assumption Street East at around 6 a.m. on Monday, and found a woman with serious injuries.

Police learned that the victim and a friend had visited someone living in the building. An argument escalated into a physical fight, during which the victim was assaulted and threatened with a knife.

The victim fled, but the suspect was found by police in the apartment and arrested.

The 32-year-old man is charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, assault, uttering death threats, breach of probation, and failure to comply with a release order.

The charges have not been proven in court.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
