Man with child pornography conviction arrested on bail violation

LaSalle police have arrested a 24-year-old man convicted on child pornography charges for allegedly violating his bail conditions.

The man was sentenced in May 2024 for possession of child pornography. Among the terms was a prohibition order barring him from going to community centres.

LaSalle Police Chief Michael Pearce said that on Saturday, the man was seen at the Vollmer Complex, which prompted members of the LaSalle and Windsor police's bail compliance units to investigate further.

On Wednesday, the Windsor man was arrested and charged with one count of breaching an order from a sexual offence conviction.

"He was held by police for a bail hearing and was remanded into custody pending another court appearance [Thursday]," said Pearce.

The man has not been identified, and the bail violation charge has not been proven in court.

Bail compliance officers work as part of the Offender Management Unit, a joint venture by Windsor and LaSalle police that supervises high-risk individuals under house arrest, curfew, or electronic monitoring.
