Hate-motivated online post leads to arrest

A man has been arrested by LaSalle police for a hate-motivated crime.

An investigation began on Tuesday after the suspect posted online.

LaSalle police allege that he promoted antisemitic rhetoric, which included violence against Jewish people, as well as promoted violence against police officers.

As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old LaSalle man has been arrested and charged with public incitement of hatred.

He was held in custody awaiting a bail hearing and was later remanded to custody.

His next court date is Monday.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
