Habitat for Humanity holds indoor ground-breaking for modular homes

Habitat for Humanity held a different kind of ground-breaking ceremony on Monday morning for a modular home that could change the way homes are built.

The first thing that was different was that the ceremony was held indoors, inside A-LINX's manufacturing plant in Oldcastle.

The media had the opportunity to explore the inside of a fully built model and look at a catalogue of Habitat model designs through virtual reality.

The event highlighted the collaboration between Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex and industry leaders, pushing forward a scalable, efficient, and community-focused solution to Canada's housing crisis.

A-LINX says the homes are built to the National Building Code.

The company said it is one of the only builders poised to scale up production to a national level.
