A Windsor man who didn't move over to the next lane when he came upon a tow truck and an OPP cruiser parked on the shoulder of the road while driving.
The OPP was assisting the tow truck driver after a collision on Hwy. 401 in Lakeshore on Thursday afternoon, when the vehicle sped past.
The OPP pulled the driver over and noticed the driver was also allegedly impaired by alcohol.
The 42-year-old is now charged with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and failure to move into another lane for an emergency vehicle or tow truck.
"The OPP urges all drivers to respect Ontario's Move Over Law. When approaching an emergency vehicle stopped with its lights flashing, motorists must slow down and, if safe, move into another lane," said an OPP release. "This law is designed to protect police, paramedics, tow truck operators, and other roadside workers."
Failure to comply with the law could result in fines, demerit points, and possible serious injury or death.
The Windsor man's license is suspended for 90 days, his vehicle is impounded for a week, and he'll appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on February 27.
