Environment Canada has issued a yellow air quality warning for Windsor, Essex County, and Leamington.
The alert went into effect at 11:35 a.m. on Sunday and is due to the stagnant winter weather.
Environment Canada warns that light wind and still weather have caused high levels of air pollution due to an increase of fine particles and nitrogen dioxide.
According to the warning, residents should limit their time outdoors, noting that people may experience mild eye, nose, and throat irritation, headaches, or coughing.
Environment Canada expects the elevated pollution levels to continue through Monday morning.
