OPP blames two crashes on impaired driving

The Ontario Provincial Police has charged a Leamington man in one crash, and Woodslee man in a second, unrelated collision.

Over this past weekend, the OPP charged three drivers in Essex County with impaired driving, including the pair arrested after those crashes.

The first crash was just before 9 p.m. on Thursday night. Police responded after a vehicle went into a ditch on County Road 11 at County Road 15.

A 20-year-old Woodslee man is charged with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired, operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol concentration over the legal limit, and driving without a valid permit.

The second crash was on South Middle Side Road near Rochester Townline just after 12:30 a.m. on Sunday.

That time, the OPP charged a 21-year-old Leamington man with impaired driving charges.

A 31-year-old Leamington man is the third driver charged with impaired driving on the weekend. The OPP pulled his vehicle over on Sturgeon Meadows Avenue in Leamington on Friday night.

In addition to impaired driving charges, the driver is also charged with driving without a proper rear light and being a novice driver with a blood-alcohol concentration over zero.

All three drivers had their licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicles impounded for a week.
