LaSalle is reminding residents considering running in this fall's municipal elections that the nomination period opens a week from Friday.
"Running for municipal office is an important way to serve your community and help shape local decision-making," said a release from the town.
As of May 1, the town will start collecting nomination forms for candidates in the October vote. Nomination forms may be filed in person at the LaSalle Civic Centre between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
May 1 is also the deadline to file nomination papers in other municipalities.
The Clerk's Office prefers that candidates make an appointment before filing their nomination papers. The Clerk's Office can be reached at 519-969-7770 ext. 1263 or by email.
Once the nomination papers are filed, candidates are free to begin their campaign and fundraising.
Lawn signs are allowed to go up as of September 11.
Voters will receive a Voter Information Letter in early October that includes instructions and a secure PIN to vote online.
Voting for the LaSalle Municipal and School Board Election will be conducted online.
Voting starts at 10 a.m. on October 16 and ends at 8 p.m. on Election Day, October 26.
LaSalle will set up a Voter Help Centre at the LaSalle Civic Centre during the voting period to help those who need it with the online voting process.
