Pickering resident charged after Tecumseh traffic stop

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say a driver has been arrested after being caught parked on busy Manning Road in Tecumseh.

Patrol officers spotted a parked vehicle on the Highway 401 overpass shortly before 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Police investigated and suspected the driver to be impaired.

A 44-year-old from Pickering is charged with driving with excessive blood-alcohol content, impeding traffic by parking on a highway, having liquor readily available, driving without a valid permit, and failure to notify of a change of address.

The vehicle was impounded for seven days, and the driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days.

The driver will have a chance to dispute the charges in a Windsor court on June 18.
