TQRSS workers ratify contract with 17 per cent wage increase

More than 500 workers at an auto parts company in Tecumseh have ratified a new three-year contract that will award them a 17 per cent wage increase over the life of the deal.

Unifor Local 444 represents 540 workers at TQRSS on Patillo Road. The company makes seat belts for the automotive industry.

The workers just voted 98.3 per cent in favour of strike action at the end of April if an agreement couldn't be reached.

The contract also includes improvements to benefits and retirement contributions, offers a faster path to the full rate for full-time employees, a production bonus, and better language around work conditions and protections.

Meanwhile, Unifor Local 444 says workers at NorthStar Aerospace voted 100 per cent in favour of strike action to back demands ahead of contract talks, which start Monday.
