Impaired drivers arrested in two incidents on the weekend

A crash early Sunday morning in Leamington has resulted in charges for a 26-year-old man, while an Essex man faces charges after a traffic stop on Saturday night.

The Ontario Provincial Police stopped a 34-year-old Essex man on Gloucester Drive and Cumberland Way in Essex around 7:43 p.m. on Saturday after receiving complaints about how the vehicle was driven.

Officers charged the driver with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and two counts of impaired driving.

Meanwhile, a 26-year-old Leamington man is charged with impaired driving, fail or refusal to comply with a demand, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle after a crash on Highway 77 near Mersea Road 8.

Both drivers had their license suspended for 90 days and their vehicles impounded for a week. They also have appearances scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor in July.

Highway 402 speed limit set to increase next month

From Waterworks Road to 350 metres east of Colborne Road in Sarnia, and on a short stretch between Highway 401 to White Oak Road in London, the speed limit will be 110 kilometres an hour beginning July 31.
