Windsor police arrest three alleged impaired drivers

Patrol officers across Windsor were busy on the weekend, arresting three people for driving under the influence.

Windsor police say the first was stopped at the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel on Friday evening. At around 7:30 p.m., border agents noticed a female driver showing signs of being impaired and with alcohol on her breath.

The 38-year-old Windsor woman was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where she was charged with impaired driving and driving with excessive blood-alcohol concentration.

The second incident was reported at around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, when police responded to a crash on Pierre Avenue off Wyandotte Street East. The driver apparently swerved and hit another vehicle before coming to rest on a utility pole. There were two children in the vehicle, but they were not hurt.

The 42-year-old male driver was also charged with impaired driving and driving with excessive blood-alcohol concentration.

Finally, at around midnight on Sunday, officers spotted a vehicle going the wrong way on a one-way section of Chatham Street East.

The 29-year-old male driver was charged with impaired driving and driving with excessive blood-alcohol.

The charges have not been proven in court.
