The City of Windsor has placed six residential lots up for sale as part of the redevelopment of the Kinsmen Norman Road Park.
The municipally owned property is located south of the park, fronting Olive Road and Norman Road.
The release of the property is part of the city's Housing Solutions Made for Windsor strategy to increase housing opportunities in the community.
"These six new single-detached family homes are another example of how we are Investing Responsibly and identifying City-owned land that is ideal to support residential growth and strengthen our neighbourhoods. The redevelopment of the surrounding park will enhance the community for current and future residents alike, creating a more vibrant, complete, and connected neighbourhood for Windsor families,” said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens.
The park redevelopment will include a shade structure with picnic tables, basketball court, soccer field, a community garden, an outdoor fitness area and additional trees.
“This is a terrific improvement to a Ward 8 City park that has been underserviced for many years. I’m pleased that I, along with the whole of City Council, could move the needle in a positive direction to add some needed housing along with upcoming immediate park improvements to this gem of an area that will benefit Ward 8 residents and visitors," said Councillor Gary Kaschak.
Each residential lot is listed at $200,000, with lands zoned Residential District 1.2 and are ready for development.
