Environmental assessment for Cabana Road East underway

The City of Windsor has launched an environmental assessment ahead of planned improvements to Cabana Road East from Walker Road to the city limits.

The city plans to widen the road from the current two lanes along the former County Road 42 to four lanes.

A study was completed in 2014, but since then, the area has had significant residential, commercial, and industrial growth, and traffic has increased. The new study is a Class EA Study Addendum.

The study currently underway will assess current and future traffic demands and evaluate upgrades, including road widening, intersection improvements, better walking and cycling infrastructure, upgrading drainage systems, and relocating or improving utilities.

Windsor will consult with Indigenous communities, government agencies, property owners, residents, and other interested stakeholders. It also plans to hold a public information meeting about the changes later this year.
