LaSalle police seek tips in suspicious house fire

LaSalle police have issued a call for information as they investigate a fire last week.

LaSalle Fire and Rescue was called to a home on Todd Lane near Canada Street at around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, and found a house in flames. The fire was quickly put out, but several rooms on the main floor sustained extensive damage.

LaSalle police and fire investigators soon determined that the fire was set on purpose.

"Investigators have been conducting extensive neighbourhood canvassing and are seeking the public's assistance as the investigation continues," read a Facebook post from LaSalle police. "Of particular interest is a lone individual operating a Vespa-style scooter that may have been travelling to or from the Todd Lane area around the time of the incident. Investigators believe the scooter may have had clear or opaque jugs attached to the rear at some point."

Anyone with information should contact LaSalle Police Detective Sergeant James Nestor at (519) 969-5210, extension 2531.
