Residents of Leamington, Kingsville and Amherstburg can expect a delivery of a new green bin starting in September.
The Essex Windsor Solid Waste Authority is kicking off phase two of the Green Bin Program this fall.
"When you get the green bin, read that sticker on top, the welcome sticker, there's reason why we put it and you do want to look inside because there is a kitchen catcher in there with some content to get you going," said Cathy Copot-Nepszy, waste diversion manager.
Collection will start in the new municipalities starting in November.
"They want to start using their green bin and setting up a week before, the last week in October, before the November start so that their green bin is full when our collection trucks come around," said Copot-Nepszy.
Over 9,000 tonnes of organic waste has been diverted from the landfill since the program started last October in Windsor, Tecumseh, LaSalle, Lakeshore, and Essex.
"I'm really excited about it," said Leamington Mayor Hilda MacDonald. "It will take some getting used to; change is always a challenge, but to me I see this as only being good for the future."
