Windsor police arrest pair after interrupting a burglary

Two men are facing charges after Windsor police officers stopped a holdup at a house on Wednesday afternoon.

Police responded to a break-and-enter in progress at around 4 p.m. on Assumption Street near Marentette Avenue. They were told that two men had forced their way into the house, each carrying an edged weapon.

They allegedly ordered the two residents out of the house, then began throwing their possessions onto the lawn. One of the victims called police, who quickly arrived, stopped the break-and-enter, and arrested the pair.

A search uncovered a taser and an unspecified amount of methamphetamine.

A 51-year-old man and a 42-year-old man were both charged with break-and-enter and assault with a weapon.

The 51-year-old is also charged with wearing a disguise to commit an offence and failure to comply with probation.

The 42-year-old is also charged with carrying a prohibited weapon and possession of a Schedule I substance.

The charges have not been proven in court.
