The Canadian Mental Health Association Windsor-Essex Branch is encouraging people to reach out to the community during suicide awareness month.
Throughout September, community partners will host education sessions, training opportunities, awareness initiatives, fundraising events, and community activities designed to promote mental health, reduce stigma, strengthen protective factors, and increase awareness of suicide prevention resources.
The CMHA wants everyone in the community to know they are not alone.
"We all face challenges; it's not a weakness to reach out for help. We have a lot of services and programs available in our community. No one should struggle in silence, reach out if you're struggling," said Kim Willis, Director of Communications & Mental Health Promotion.
The CMHA will host three Suicide Awareness Month Walks on September 27. Check their website for details. Last year, over 500 people took part in the walks.
