Windsor police say the drivers involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision over the weekend were allegedly street racing.
A 62-year-old was hit and killed at the intersection of Tecumseh Road East and Princess Avenue around 10 p.m. Sunday.
The Major Crimes Unit determined the two vehicles were racing eastbound on Tecumseh when one of the vehicles struck a pedestrian who was crossing the road.
The driver of the vehicle did not stay on the scene. The driver of the second vehicle initially left but returned to the scene.
The driver who returned, a 19-year-old, was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and failure to stop after an accident causing death.
The 17-year-old driver of the other vehicle turned himself into police on Thursday. He has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Windsor Police Service Major Crimes Unit at 519-255-6700, ext. 4830.
