The fourth annual Run with Responders 5k raised $11,250 for three local charities.
The Canadian Mental Health Association - Windsor-Essex County Branch (CMHA-WECB), Windsor Firefighters Benefit Fund, and Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ontario each received $3,750.
"There are more and more issues. More mental health issues, more poverty issues, and anything that we can do to help out, we're happy to help out. Unfortunately, every year the need is greater and greater," said Dave Orshinsky, event coordinator.
Over 460 people participated in the Run With Responders event in July; around 115 were first responders.
Next year's event is scheduled for July 25, 2027.
