Two Leamington residents face a long list of charges after a vehicle hit a house on County Road 20 in Kingsville on Sunday morning.
The crash, at approximately 5:12 a.m., sparked a fire that engulfed the vehicle and the home.
The Ontario Provincial Police arrived, but didn't find any suspects in the vehicle, which had been reported stolen.
While investigating the crash and fire, the OPP got a report of a possibly impaired driver on Main Street in Kingsville. Officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver intentionally struck the cruiser and fled.
A short time later, the vehicle returned to the original crash scene on County Road 20, struck a second police cruiser, along with an ambulance and a fire truck.
Once again, the driver fled.
Two suspects were later arrested, a 28-year-old Leamington man and a 32-year-old Leamington woman.
The man faces a total of 22 charges, including four counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, theft over $5,000, two counts of flight from a peace officer, two counts of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, three counts of failure to comply with a probation order, criminal negligence, and four counts of failing to stop after an accident.
The woman is also charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, criminal negligence, theft over $5,000, and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
The man remains in police custody and has a bail hearing set for Tuesday, while the woman was released from custody and is expected to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on January 13, 2027.
