South Woodslee man scratches off a $250K prize

A relatively new lottery player has walked away with a quarter-million dollars.

Donald M. of South Woodslee won $250,000, the top prize in the OLG's Crossword Deluxe Scratch game. He picked up his cheque recently at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

"I only started playing the lottery about two months ago," said Donald. "I was at home enjoying a coffee and playing my ticket when I realized I’d won something. I asked my partner to check it for me, and she said, ‘You won $250!’ Then I checked my ticket using the OLG app and discovered it was actually $250,000."

Donald added that he, a self-described jokester, had a difficult time convincing his friends and family that he had actually won.

He plans to use his winnings to save for retirement and do home renovations.

Donald picked up his winning ticket at the Foodland on Talbot Street South in Essex.
