Two charged in outlaw motorcycle investigation in Belle River

The Ontario Provincial Police have seized 20 firearms during an investigation cracking down on bikers.

This past September, the OPP started investigating individuals associated with a support club of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club.

On October 1, the OPP Biker Enforcement Unit, Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit and the Essex County Community Street Crime Unit converged on a home in Belle River.

The residence and two vehicles were searched.

Police found 19 rifles and shotguns, a prohibited handgun, 1.5 oz of cocaine, a prohibited over-capacity magazine, ammunition, digital scales, two outlaw motorcycle vests, and $70,000 Canadian.

A 52-year-old Belle River man is charged with possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

A second suspect, a 31-year-old man, also from Belle River, faces similar charges and a charge of careless storage of a firearm.

The presence of firearms, drugs and significant proceeds of crime underscores the connection between outlaw motorcycle gangs and criminal activity," said Chief Superintendent Mike Stoddart of the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau. "Through intelligence-led investigations and collaboration with policing partners, we will continue to identify, disrupt, and dismantle those who profit from criminal enterprises and threaten the safety of Ontario communities."

Both suspects have been released from police custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on December 23, 2026.
