Stars Gala Featuring DeVos

Former Canadian men's national soccer team captain Jason DeVos is coming to the city for tonight's Windsor Stars Gala.

Stars owner Vancho Cirovski says DeVos will be speaking at the fundraiser held at the Ciociaro Club.

"He wanted to be a part of this and we're thrilled to have him come down. He's a terrific soccer personality and a great speaker at that too," says Cirovski, adding the gala is important in building the Windsor Stars brand. "No tradition and no program can be built if it doesn't sit on some historical effort and we've had that, but we haven't been very effective at making that connection between what happened in the past and what's happening now."

The event will include recognizing past players from the 1980s, a hall of fame nominations and a silent auction with a number of items including signed MLS jerseys from teams like TFC, LA Galaxy and DC United.

Tickets can be purchased at The Running Shoe, calling 519-890-1688 or online at the Windsor Stars website.
