Goaltending Prospect Aiming High

A young Amherstburg goaltender with aspirations of making it to the big leagues says the chance to play close to home is exciting.

15-year-old Michael DiPietro was drafted in the second round of the OHL entry draft by the Windsor Spitfires and knows it's going to be a big challenge.

"I just want to give a good showing, and if they want to keep me on the roster then they keep me," He says. "I understand it's hard especially for a 16-year-old to crack an OHL line up but I'm going to give it all I have."

DiPietro turns 16 next month. He was the first draft pick in the second round and the first goaltender drafted.

He says there will be extra support because he will be playing close to home but also extra pressure.
